Performance Internship

  • Open to 4th-12th grade students
  • Learn all music and choreography for the show in rehearsal
  • Each intern will be assigned to a particular group of children (Fireflies, Butterflies, Ladybugs, Army Ants, etc) and will be that group's Captain for the season.
  • Occasionally help to lead warm-ups
  • Assist with general order in rehearsal
  • Watch for students who need extra assistance and help them with learning the choreography and/or music.
  • Occasionally lead choreography rehearsal
  • Work with children individually on their speaking lines
  • Help to set a general tone of excitement and encouragement.
  • During the final show day, assist the director as needed, including helping the children remember lines, music, choreography, etc. Help with strike at the end of the show.
  • Additional Time needed: remain after rehearsal for 15 minutes for a post-rehearsal meeting with director.
  • About 40 volunteer hours total.

Costuming Internship

  • Open to 4th-12th grade students
  • Work with director to decide on costume ideas for each character.
  • Help to collect performer sizes and measurements as needed.
  • Help to create costume pieces as needed (instruction will be given)
  • As costumes arrive, oversee costume fittings for all performers.
  • Manage the organization and labeling of all costumes.
  • Help to create a general atmosphere of excitement and encouragement.
  • During the final show day, assist the director as needed, including helping to set up costuming area at show venue, helping children get into their costumes, overseeing any mid-show costume changes, and helping with strike at the end of the show.
  • Additional Time needed: remain after rehearsal for 15 minutes for a post-rehearsal meeting with director.
  • About 40 volunteer hours total

Administration/Stage Management Internship

  • Open to 6th-12th grade students
  • Work with rehearsal administrator at the check-in table for each rehearsal.
  • Greet each child cheerfully by name (as soon as you can learn them) and help them get a name tag.
  • Keep accurate attendance on the director's tracker.
  • Once rehearsals begin, take notes of all solos and speaking lines as they are assigned.
  • Update director's tracker with all character assignments.
  • Manage distribution of all scripts and lyric sheets.
  • Keep an updated script with all entrances and exits.
  • Help to manage dismissal with rehearsal administrator.
  • Work with director to create the show program.
  • Work with the director to design and create the stage sets (with parent volunteers)
  • During the final show day, assist the director as needed, including checking in all performers, helping to oversee the set up of the stage and set, chairs for the audience, assist with the dress rehearsal, and during the show give cues to the tech team as needed. Help with strike after the show.
  • Additional Time needed: remain after rehearsal for 15 minutes for a post-rehearsal meeting with director.
  • About 40 volunteer hours total.

 

Technical Internship

  • Open to 6th-12th grade students
  • Runs tracks during rehearsals
  • Manages the mic plot, tracking which mic children will be using for every part of the performance.
  • On the day of the show: assists to set up the stage and all technical equipment. Runs the audio tracks during the dress rehearsal and works with the sound tech to manage mics. Runs audio tracks for the show. Potentially will switch to run audio for the show, if prepared. Helps to strike after the show.
  • Additional Time needed: remain after rehearsal for 15 minutes for a post-rehearsal meeting with director.
  • About 40 volunteer hours total.
