AUDITION INFORMATION
SJE Combo Auditions
Please submit a digital audition recording by Friday, January 24th to info@spotlightrepnw.org with "SJE Combo Audition" in the subject line.
- 1-4 minute mp3 recording or video link to a clip playing a jazz tune of your choice.
- Either solo or with a group or backing track (Aebersold or Irealpro/Irealb).
- Feature the melody and at least one chorus of soloing.
- For drums, play time for one chorus, then trade 4s or 8s for a chorus (if with a backing track, just alternate soloing and keeping time).
SJE Vocals Auditions
Please submit a digital audition recording by Friday, January 24th to info@spotlightrepnw.org with "SJE Vocals Audition" in the subject line.
- Choose two contrasting songs from the standard jazz or musical theater repertoire (at least one verse and one chorus). If you have questions about repertoire, please contact us at info@spotlightrepnw.org.
- Clearly state your name, age, and the pieces that you are going to perform.
- Each piece should be no longer than 3 minutes.
- Pick material that allows you to showcase your vocal versatility and your ability to sing across your vocal range.
- You may either have a live accompanist or use a recorded accompaniment track. No a cappella singing.
- Please make sure your voice can be heard above the accompaniment – try different distances from the sound source until you find the correct balance between accompaniment and voice.

Tuition Details (January – May 2025, 18 sessions)
- SJE Combos: $1600 per person (due before the first class)
- SJE Vocals: $1300 per person (due before the first class)
Refunds & Inclement Weather Policies
- Non-refundable tuition: Please note that all tuition payments are non-refundable.
- Weather-related cancellations: If bad weather forces a cancellation, we will make every effort to schedule a make-up class. However, we cannot guarantee a make-up due to limited availability of rehearsal venues.
